This 3 days tour takes you to the genocide museum at Gikongoro, through the cultural town of Butare and to the primates’ home of Nyungwe forest.
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
On arrival at the Airport, you will be welcomed by our company representative who will transfer you to Nyungwe forest National Park. En route stopovers at Gikongoro will allow you an opportunity to visit the Genocide Memorial of Murambi. Have lunch in Butare town which is the 2nd largest town in Rwanda and considered the cultural capital of the country with the national university and the National Museum as well as very rewarding handicraft shops where typical products made by Rwandan artisans are sold. After this, you will proceed with your journey and visit the Royal Palace in Nyanza. The site displays original items and pieces of history of the Old Mwami who was the King of Rwanda. Later after lunch you will continue with your Journey to Nyungwe National Park popular for its primate population for dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury) or Gisakura Guest House (Budget)
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe
After an early breakfast, you will leave the lodge or guest house around 5:00am and enter the forest to search for the Chimpanzees and other primates like the Angolan colobus, white and black colobus monkeys among others. The park hosts 13 species of primates and these include: chimpanzees, Rwenzori colobus, L’Hoest Monkey, silver monkey, owl faced monkey, red tailed monkey, vervet monkey and olive baboon and so many others. You are also advised to carry with you a packed lunch and bottled mineral water since the chimps are elusive and the time taken to find them is not certain. The park is also popular for sheltering the largest troop of black and white colobus monkeys. Return in the evening for dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury) or Gisakura Guest House (Budget)
Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali
After breakfast, you will transfer back to Kigali. Upon arrival, you will have Lunch and later be transferred to the Airport for your flight back home.

Day 1: Travel to Kibale Chimpanzee Forest National Park
Transfer from Kigali early morning to Kibale national park. The drive to Kibale National park is approximately 6 hours. This is a scenic drive through the Kigezi highlands commonly known as the “Switzerland of Africa”. Overnight stay at Kyaninga Lodge / Ndali Lodge / Crater Lodge (up-market); Mountains of the Moon Hotel / Chimpanzee Guest House (Mid-range / budget)
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking, Bigodi Birding, Nature Walk
After Breakfast, move into the Forest, for primate viewing but before the activity starts you will be briefed by a park ranger. The activity starts early in the morning at 8.00 a.m. A half day search for chimps and monkeys including phoestes, Red-Colobuses, Blue, Red-tailed and grey cheeked Mangabeys swinging through the impenetrable forest. You will also see varieties of birds, butterflies and many small insects. The ranger will provide detailed explanations on not only the primates, but also on all the forest’s fauna and flora, ensuring that your walk is both informative and enjoyable. After lunch, a visit to Bigodi wetland an eco tourism site is incredible as you shall encounter rare and beautiful aquatic life. Accommodation at your hotel
Day 3: Visit the crater lakes region and transfer back to Kigali
Have an early breakfast and drive through the great rift valley region for a beautiful scenery due to the many crater lakes found their, and later drive back to Kigali having lunch en route.
