Gorilla Safari Rwanda , Uganda 8 Days
Day 1, Arrival
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our company safari guide who will transfer you to Kigali town which is the capital city. You will be briefed about your safari. You will then leave for Parc Nationale des Volcanoes. You will pass through the beautiful terraced hillsides that show much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes; sometimes five peaks can be seen. Overnight and dinner at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge/Kinigi Guest House/Mountain Gorilla Lodge.
Day 2, Gorilla Tracking
After breakfast, report to the headquarters of Parc Nationale des Volcans at 08:00hours for briefing, After the briefing from the authorities of the park, set off for the trekking into the rain tropical forest covering the hills surrounding Virunga Volcanoes. It is advisable to organize packed lunch and plenty of water for this sometimes strenuous activity. Return for dinner and over night at your lodge
Day 3, Golden Monkey tracking, Visit the Dian Fossey’s Grave and visit the community areas.
After breakfast, you will go for golden monkeys trekking in the Park after which you will visit other places like the Ross Carr's orphanage and Lake Kivu, and the Dian Fossey's grave. If time allows, you will also visit the local school and community projects. Return for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 4, Transfer to Uganda
In the morning after breakfast, you will cross the Rwanda and Ugandan boarder and transfer to Uganda in the south western region. You will go to Mgahinga National Park and upon arrival, you will visit the near by Bafumbira culture people and later on return to Volcanoes Mount Gahinga Lodge/Kisoro Tourist Hotel/Travellers Rest camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5, Gorilla Tracking/Hiking
After breakfast at the Hotel, you will go for gorilla tracking again in Mgahinga/Nkuringo, Alternatively, you can go for hiking on Mountain Gahinga. Dinner and overnight stay as above
Day 6, Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable
After breakfast, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park through Kabale District which is commonly know as the ‘Switzerland of Africa’. If time allows go for a guided nature walk in the thick forest rich in birds, butterflies and monkeys. Alternatively go for a short stroll around the Lodge. Go to Buhoma Community bandas/Lake Kitandara Tented Camp/Gorilla Forest Camp or Gorilla resort for dinner and over night stay.
Day 7, Gorilla tracking in Rwanda
Enjoy breakfast after which you will report to Ruhengeri park headquarters for briefing. The briefing will address gorilla tracking rules necessary for both yours and gorilla safety. Prepare yourself because gorilla tracking can be a challenging experience since you can walk for 1-6 hours before finding habituated gorillas. However, the certificate you will receive at the end of the tracking expedition will be make the trip worthwhile. On your gorilla tracking expedition you will most likely see other forest animals, birds and reptiles. Since the tracking can at times last for hours, it is advisable to organize packed lunch and plenty of water prior to the tracking. After gorilla tracking, return to Buhoma Community bandas/Lake Kitandara Tented Camp/Gorilla Forest Camp or Gorilla resort for dinner and over night stay.
Day 8, Transfer back to Kigali and Departure
Have breakfast in the morning and then transfer to Kigali via Kabale and
Katuna. You will be transferred to the Airport for your flight back home.
